Evaluation
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
1. Introduction/Continuity
At the beginning of all radio shows, ours included, there is an announcer introducing the show clearly. They usually state the name of the radio station, the time at which it is broadcasted e.g morning, midday, evening and what it is delivering. As you can hear for yourself ours does all three of those things.
2. Jingle
The first thing I with radio is the catchy and unique jingle at the beginning. This jingle is the be-all and end-all of your show. It is the first thing the listener hears when they tune in and if it is boring and dull they will switch over. So we decided that we wanted a unique jingle that's more professional sounding than friendly and more sharp tones so that the audience is enticed rather than put into the boring zone.
3. Outro
The Outro is important because it brings a rounded conclusion to our radio show. It enables the show to exit the way it came in, in a similar track. I took a track from freesound and used the beginning as the intro and the end of the track as an outro.
4. Vox Pops
a vox pops is essential in our radio show, as it tests the public's opinion and reaction and incoperates the public's view into our show. When the viewers see its public orientated it will make them more interested in listening to our show.
5. Outside Broadcast
For our radio show we needed to include two oustide broadcasts, this is an extract from the second one, from the killer's concert.
These code and conventions are very similar yet still has some differences to the radio show i recorded and this because:
- Both of the shows have a catchy and continuous jingle which they use at the start of each and every show.
- Both shows have a continuity announcer who is different from the main presenter.
- Although both shows have continuity announcers the BBC Radio Berkshire's announcer introduces himself and the show, yet Maida News Flash's announcer doesn't introduce themself.
- Also, in Maida News Flash each headline is said and then the stories follow in chronological order. Yet in BBC Radio Berkshire the headline is said and then the story as well as the outside broadcast.
- Both shows have two oustide broadcasts, yet Maida Newsflash features two interviewers and BBC Radio Berkshire only features the interviewees.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
This was the last question we answered. As you can see it was a tricky question to answer as we filmed it on two different occasions. The first occasion it was myself, Ryan and Redwan. The second time it was only Myself and Redwan as Ryan was busy.
What kind of media institution would distribute your media product and why?
This queston was done by all four of us. We used a software called Camtasia to record this question, we didn't use the Camera for this as we needed to show the importance of what was on the screen. In this question you can hear Myself, Sid and Ryan's voices.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
I did this question on freemind as it is a very useful site. It was a useful way of showing our Audience as there are different categories which were displayed in different boxes of the mind map. I also felt that the boxes did not go into enough detail as i wanted them too, so i decided to get Ryan and myself to record a little about each category of audience.
How did you attract/address your audience?
This is the most creative question we have as it is made on a storyboard. Although there are only 6 pieces they have a lot of information on them, in speech bubbles and on places around the scene. The characters in the storyboard are created in order to represent our group.
What have you learnt about the technologies for the process of costructing this product?
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
This is the last question of the whole lot and it was done by Redwan and recorded by Myself and Redwan. we used Lightroom Pro.
